CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser: Quick Review
A lightweight foaming cleanser, formulated to cleanse with enough actives to maintain the barrier intact. A solid choice for normal to oily skin. It doesn’t contains any botanicals, known allergens, and sensitizers, so if you’re after an active-first formula, this might be exactly what you should try. If you’re something who would rather go for a botanical-rich formula, this is not the one. But, it’s only a cleanser and will be in contact with your skin briefly, so might still be worth giving it a go.
Key actives:
Ceramides (NP, AP, EOP): restore and maintain your skin barrier, improves resilience.
Hyaluronic Acid: keeps skin hydrated and plump.
Niacinamide: calms inflammation and supports barrier function. Great if you have occasional breakout to manage here and there.
Supporting ingredients worth noting:
Glycerin: humectant that draws moisture into the skin and softens. Works great in collaboration with HA.
Phytosphingosine & Cholesterol: lipids naturally present in your skin. Work with ceramides to reinforce your barrier and calm irritation.
😊 Who should use
Those with normal to oily skin, resilient types who can tolerate parabens. Works well if you're dealing with mild acne or oiliness and want something gentle enough for daily use.
🥺 Who shouldn't use
Anyone with dry or dehydrated skin will likely find this too drying. If you can’t tolerate parabens or are trying to avoid them, obviously skip it.
🚩 Red Flags
Contains parabens (methylparaben, propylparaben), which some prefer to avoid (that’s many of us, sensitive folks!). While it's fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, the foaming action is calibrated for normal to oily skin and can be too cleansing for dry or sensitive types.
